Our clients ride regularly at the same time each week and usually, although we cannot guarantee this, on the same horse or pony. We monitor and provide regular feed back to our clients, or their carer, on progress to ensure they receive maximum benefit from their riding sessions. Lessons are charged at £10 for each 45 minute lesson and £8 for each 30 minute lesson and billed a term at a time.
For those who wish it, we are happy to prepare clients for entry into dressage competitions, where we have regular success at RDA regional and national level. There is, however, no pressure to enter competitions for those who simply want to achieve their personal goals.
Occasionally we are able to offer longer hacks, usually during the school holidays.
The Centre makes an exception to the regime of regular weekly rides to facilitate the requirements of terminally ill children, for whom we will try to arrange individual one-off lessons to add a special experience to their precious lives.
Can I ride?
Whatever your disability, we will consider your application to ride with us provided that:
* We have a recommendation from a clinician or have confirmation from your GP that your condition does not preclude you from riding
* You are within a weight range suitable for our horses and ponies, this will almost certainly mean you will be at least 5 years old and weigh no more than about 12 stone.
* We have a vacancy on a ride that matches your need and ability, and at a time suitable to you.
Our current clients include those with:
* Cerebral palsy
* Multiple sclerosis
* Severe physical impairment
* Profound deafness
* Blindness and partial sight
* Learning difficulty
* Downs Syndrome
* Autism
* Spina bifida
The above list is by no means exhaustive; please contact us to learn more if you think you, or someone you know, might benefit from riding. Our youngest riders are 5 years old – the oldest over 70. Age itself is not a barrier.
